Kensaku Morita, Governor of Chiba Prefecture, top salesperson in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Governor Kensaku Morita shows off Chiba's charms in front of travel agents in Chiang Mai on the 5th at a hotel in Chiang Mai.

[Chiang Mai = Fumiki Iimura] Chiba Prefecture Governor Kensaku Morita, who is visiting Thailand, energetically launched top sales of "Chiba" locally.

On the 5th, he attended a tourism business meeting with local travel agencies in Chiang Mai, the country's second-largest city, and said, ``I love Thailand. I want many Thai people to come to Chiba.'' According to the Prefectural Tourism Attraction Promotion Division, similar tourism business meetings have been held in Bangkok in the past, and this time's business meeting aims to spread awareness with the aim of cultivating a new market of attracting tourists from Chiang Mai.

This is the first time that a prefecture has held a tourism business meeting in Chiang Mai. A tourism mission group made up of more than a dozen organizations including commercial facilities and tourism associations from Chiba Prefecture joined the group at the site.

They contacted approximately 10 travel agencies in Chiang Mai individually and actively negotiated with them, proposing travel plans starting from Chiang Mai that included their own facilities. Governor Morita, who promoted ``Chiba'' to local travel agents, said, ``We were able to fully convey the appeal of Chiba.I think people felt a sense of familiarity with it.'' In addition, Governor Morita participated in the Chiba Fair at a major department store in the capital Bangkok on the 4th, the day before the event, and promoted the deliciousness of Chiba's specialty products, including strawberries.
``I came here because I wanted to introduce Chiba Prefecture's fruits to everyone,'' he said, handing out strawberries to the shoppers himself. Jirafa Assam (38), an office worker, was impressed, saying, ``It's sweet and chewy. It's delicious compared to other strawberries.'' <Sankei News>
