Taxi is recommended. How to get to Pattaya from the airport/city for beginners in Thailand

pattaya beach

@katayamada_Y ) and
I've been to Pattaya over 10 times I've taken long-distance buses and taxis, but I find taxis to be easier and better. I also recommend taxis if you're going alone!"

I've been to Thailand about 11 times in the past three years, and I've never had trouble getting a taxi or being in the wrong place.

Even if you can't understand English or Thai, you can go to tourist spots (Pattaya) without any problems.

Now that I'm used to it, there's no problem with it being random, but back then I didn't understand either English or Thai!
When I was told something, I said ahhh yes yes OK! OK!

yes.

There are two ways to get to Pattaya: taxi or bus.
If you have luggage, you can take a taxi, and if you are used to traveling, you can take a bus.

If you want to go from the airport to Pattaya, we recommend public taxis.

If you use LCC, you will arrive at Don Mueang International Airport.
If you use JAL, ANA, or Thai Airways, you can go to Suvarnabhumi Airport, but there are public taxis available for both.

From the moment I stepped off the train, I could smell the aroma of Thailand, and I was so excited that Thailand was here!

Where is the taxi stand?

Taxi stand at Don Mueang Airport

Don Mueang Airport is located on the arrival floor on the first floor. The location is at the far end on the left.

Taxi stand at Suvarnabhumi Airport

The Suvarnabhumi taxi stand is located on the 1st floor, one floor below the arrival floor on the 2nd floor.
When you get off the bus, there will be directions for public taxis, so just follow them.

As for the color of the public taxi, it doesn't matter if you take either the green and yellow taxi in the photo or the pink taxi.

I often use Don Mueang Airport, and I am usually guided by green and yellow taxis.

When you're wandering around the airport, a taxi guy will usually approach you, but he usually ignores you!
There is a high possibility that you will be ripped off.

There are no regular taxis inside the airport, so I guess it's okay, but there are some.

Fares from the airport to Pattaya

It costs 1800 baht in total.
A while ago it was 1500 baht... Since it is on the expressway, highway tolls and fares will be charged.

If you don't do that, you can go there for about 1200 baht, so it might be a good idea to stay in Bangkok for one night and then go to Pattaya.

It's not that expensive if you go with a few people, and it's a hassle if you have luggage, so if you're going with a group of people, it's better to take a taxi.

Time taken from airport to Pattaya

It usually takes about 2 to 3 hours.

The reason why there is such a wide range is that there are times when it is suitable for Bakuso taxis that run at 140km/h...
When it rains, visibility is poor and it's scary...

How to get to Pattaya by taxi from Bangkok city

To go to Pattaya by taxi from Bangkok city, it is common to reserve a taxi.
Even if you try to catch a taxi that is running around that area, you may be refused a taxi.

If you are staying at a hotel, you can make a reservation for a taxi by asking at the hotel reception, but it will cost a little more.
Even so, you can make a reservation for around 1,500 to 1,200 baht.

Another option is to make a reservation using a
ride-hailing app such as Uber or GRAB TAXI You will also need your phone number, so get used to it before doing so. It's very convenient though. You won't be robbed and it's safer than the taxis in the area.

Once you get used to it, let's go by bus!

There is a bus station right next to Ekkamai Station in Bangkok.
The ticket office for Pattaya is at the very front, and you can easily find it because it says
PATTAYA It's quite crowded during the day.
You can't make reservations, so it's like buying a ticket for the next bus.

A taxi costs 1,800 baht, but a bus costs 200 baht. Yasu!

The bus stop is behind the ticket office.
It will be the most time consuming. If you are concerned, show your ticket to the staff and they will let you know.

It takes about 2 to 3 hours to go to Pattaya by bus, which is the same as taking a taxi. Buses require waiting times and reservations, so taxis are easier and better.

The bus stop in Pattaya is located a little far away, so you will have to take
a shared bus (songthaew) If you don't have the confidence to tell them where you are, I think it's best not to use them yet.

Although it was far, it was only about 2km, so it wasn't impossible to get around even if you walked.

If there are buses, there are motorcycle taxis and songthaews, so I want to go to Pattaya Beach!
If you call Soi○, they will take you there. Well, if you can take the bus, I think you can do that easily 😏

I don't like this on the bus

During the day, there's one train every 30 minutes, so you don't have to wait long, but it's hot because there's no air conditioning!
long! The air conditioning inside the bus is very strong, so it might be a good idea to bring something to wear.
I always carry a light hoodie with me.
At night, it's like one every hour.
The bus isn't that big either, so you'll have to wait. Last time I made a reservation, I didn't get on and waited until the last bus, so I thought it would be better to make a reservation about an hour before the bus I was scheduled to board.

summary

For some reason, people spend money in Pattaya.
I spend about 10,000 yen every time I go, so I'd like to keep the rides cheap if possible.

But in the beginning, safety is still important! Money buys safety! !

If you take a taxi, you can usually just give them your hotel phone number and they will take you to your destination, but be sure to prepare in advance.

  • Check out hotel information in advance.
  • Be sure to print out your hotel's phone number and address so you can hand them over quickly.
  • don't forget to be polite

If you are a Japanese person, it would be better to say thank you (kopun kat in Thai or thank you in English).
I believe that each person's manners are important. Have a fun Thai life!
