Traveling will be 100 times more fun if you can speak Thai! Easily learn Thai online

In recent years, online Thai language lessons using Skype and other calling apps have started to increase, as Thailand has a well-developed infrastructure.

I would like to introduce the advantages and disadvantages of Thai language classes based on my experience of studying online for about two years.
I hope this will be helpful for those who are planning to study Thai online.

To conclude, studying online has been very helpful.

How to choose an online Thai language class

When choosing a Thai language class, it is best to choose based on the number of instructors and fees.
Online language classes can be said to be quite rough, or maybe the language class itself is like that, but it's not the style I studied in middle school or high school.

It's more casual, or rather, it's fun to talk!
I think it's good to have something that makes you think. So, in my case, I choose a Thai language class with a cute teacher! ! !

No, I'm not really looking for anything here, but it's better to have fun, right?

Joking aside, membership registration is free, so check the lesson reservation table and
see if the instructors are available that day. If there are not enough instructors, you won't be able to make a reservation at a time you like , and the quality may be low.

The two sites I introduced earlier seem to be able to secure a decent amount of instructors, so I still use them.

Benefits of online Thai lessons

  • Regardless of time or place
  • Reasonable price
  • You can start wherever you want to study
  • Get real information about Thailand

Disadvantages of online

  • Studying using Skype or the phone
  • Sometimes I get canceled suddenly
  • Sometimes the signal is bad

Overall, I highly recommend online classes, but they aren't all good things.
However, I personally don't think there are that many disadvantages.

For one thing, I have to use Skype.
After all, there are some people who are not good at studying only through video calls or phone calls.
It's a matter of getting used to it! !

The second one is a sudden cancellation.
Once in a while, there was a cancellation.
I had a fever and was in bed, or I couldn't go because of work.
I guess that can't be helped.

Lastly, there are radio waves.
Is this what you were most concerned about?
There are a lot of squalls in Thailand, so if we get hit during those times, the signal may be bad. There is no problem with just audio, but there were times when there was no video call.

Advantage 1. You can make reservations at any time and place of your choice.

I used THAI-GO and japanese2thai.com .

In my case, I was using the plan for 25 minutes every day, but many instructors , I was able to use it every day without any problems.
I don't think it's a very large company, so if you're a small-scale service, you'd have the problem of a lack of instructors , but that didn't happen with this site.

Most of the instructors are young, and since it's a Japanese service, most of them can also speak Japanese, so even those who can't speak English can use it with confidence.

If you install
Skype You don't need a computer, so you can study easily at a cafe or at home .

Skype free to use .
Communication charges will apply, so we recommend using Wifi.
It is best to keep the line as stable as possible.

Advantages 2. The price is low at about 150 yen per lesson.

You must provide your own textbooks.

I was using this textbook.
>> Only 2 books! Books and study methods that beginners should buy in Thai

It costs about 3,000 yen, but if you buy just these two books, you won't need anything else.

If you want to use it while traveling, we recommend the Yubisashi phrasebook.

Pricing plans are monthly, weekend only, or multiple times.

Honestly, it's the same no matter which one you use.
Is it the same company? They were so similar that I thought. I didn't notice any difference in the quality of the instructors either.

Advantage 3: You can have a short conversation, but it's OK even if you don't understand grammar.

I think people who want to learn a foreign language come from traveling or learning it at school, but I can understand it a little bit.
I think most of the first books you buy are the ones you take with you when you travel.

I was able to respond to 5W1H, greetings, and numbers. Isn't that about it?

In Thai, negative sentences and interrogative sentences are easy, but other grammar is not well known.
progressive tense, perfect tense, etc.

You can find out your level by talking with the instructor.
Let's have a conversation using the Thai language and grammar you know.
Classes will start at the level that suits your level.

You can also specify that you would like to study this area yourself.

Advantage 4: There are many Thai instructors in their 20s, so it is easy to get information about Thailand.

After learning Thai, you want to go on a trip, right?
There are many young Thai instructors, so they can tell you about popular tourist spots, delicious restaurants, shopping spots, etc.

I met him several times locally, and he showed me around the delicious restaurants and markets in Khao Man Gai, which was fun and helpful.
It was especially nice to go around the market.
It was my first time in Chiang Mai, and the roads I wanted to go to, such as shopping, were surprisingly convoluted, so I don't think I would have been able to go there alone.

Well, I guess it won't be much for me alone (lol)

Going from the airport to Doi Suthep by yourself is quite a hurdle...
The taxi situation in Chiang Mai was slightly different from Bangkok and Pattaya.

That's why I enjoyed making friends with Thai people in online classes.
Everyone is friendly and fun to talk to. I'm talking too normally and I'm not studying at all! Sometimes that happens (lol)

Isn't it possible to do something like that once in a while while studying?

[Summary] No matter how you think about it, online Thai lessons are recommended.

The biggest reason is that I can speak Thai.
As anyone who has studied a foreign language will understand, if you don't use it, you forget it.

It's pretty good to be able to speak Thai online.

You can have a conversation in Thai using a smartphone app without using online lessons, but I think it's more about practicing than studying.

After returning from Thailand on a trip, let's study Thai more!
You might buy a textbook, open it, and study, but you won't be able to speak Thai in real life because you don't speak Thai .

Words can only be remembered by using them.

Let's learn Thai and enjoy Thai life \(^o^)/
