Easily book Thai Railways tickets online. We have summarized the reservation method.

Hello, this is Macchan.

Did you all go to Thailand during Golden Week?
Unfortunately, I was unable to go to Thailand and spent my days in Japan in agony.

I'm planning a trip to Phrae Province in northeastern Thailand in July, and I can't help but feel excited. This time, I booked a sleeper train bound for Phrae from the official website of the National Railways of Thailand. I have summarized the steps.

Easily purchase tickets through online reservations in Thailand

Since 2017, you can easily reserve tickets on the official online ticket reservation site of the State Railways of Thailand.

With this, you can secure tickets even when you are in Japan, so when I tried to buy them locally, they were sold out! There is no such thing. There are three lines that can be booked: Kita Main Line, Minami Main Line, and Tohoku Main Line, and you can currently book tickets for up to 90 days.

First, register as a member

First, register as a member by clicking the "Sign Up" button at the top right of the screen.
Please have your passport ready as you will need to enter your passport number.

Select the route, station, date and time you want to reserve

Once you have completed your registration, please check the available seats.
This time, I checked his ticket from Bangkok to the nearest station , DEN CHAI This is what it looks like on the map. It's quite far. ↓

Enter the required information and search

Search by entering the target route, departure station, arrival station, date, and number of people in the input form on the top page.
This time, one adult searched between "BANKOK" and "DEN CHAI."

Then, a list of applicable trains will be displayed like this.
This time, I decided to take the sleeper train to make the most of my time. Therefore, I will check the availability of the train departing from Bangkok at 22:00 at the bottom of this list. Press the "Select Coach" button.

On the next screen, you can see the specific seat prices and specifications.
"Coach Type" is the seat type, "Berth" is the bed, and "Seat" is the regular seat.
If you look at the "Fare" column, you can see that the "Berth" seats are a little more expensive.
Also, be sure to check the "Air Condition" column; seats without a green button are seats without air conditioning.
Since Thailand is a tropical country and there is no air conditioning, there is no way I can sleep, so of course I choose the top seat that has air conditioning.

The "Class" number is the grade.
2 means 2nd class.

By the way, the second class car looks like this.
During the day it's a normal sheet, but at night the staff will turn it into a bed.

Back to the topic, select the "Available" button to proceed with the reservation.

On the next screen enter your name and passport number.
If you select multiple people for the first time, fields for the number of people will be displayed. For the representative, the information at the time of initial membership registration will be reflected, but if there are any corrections, they will be corrected here. Next, select whether you want to have your seat automatically selected or select it yourself using the button below. “Manual Seat Selection” is manual selection, and “Automatic Seat Selection” is automatic selection.

On the seat selection screen, the orange icon indicates a vacant seat, so select one that is vacant. Please note that this Berth seat has bunk beds, and you can choose between the upper and lower berths, so please choose whichever you prefer. Once you have made your selection, click the “Confirm Seat Selection” button to proceed.

Next is the payment method selection screen. If you are a Japanese person making a reservation, I think you will need to use the credit card above.

Please note that fees vary depending on the class at the time of reservation. 1st class: 40 baht

2nd class: 30 baht
3rd class: 20 baht Since I chose 2nd class, a 30 baht fee will be added.

Please read the reservation policy carefully and complete payment within 10 minutes. Although the VISA mark is displayed, you can also use MasterCard and JCB. Click the “Confirm Payment” button to go to the payment screen.

Wait a moment as the screen switches to an external payment service. Enter your card information here and select "Submit". The entered information will be reviewed and "Payment Confirmation" is displayed.

This is the e-ticket. Good, it looks like a real ticket. The e-ticket will be sent to the email address you registered when you registered as a member "Thairailwayticket.com:eTicket Success." attached as a pdf.

Print this out and bring it with you on the day of the event. Please be sure to print it out, as it will not be accepted on your smartphone screen. You can also check your reservation information and tickets in the "Ticket History" menu on the reservation site.

If you wish to cancel, you can do so at the station or from the ``Ticket History'' section mentioned earlier. The cancellation policy is as follows.

3 days or more before boarding: 20% of the purchase price
3 days to 1 hour before boarding: 50% of the purchase price

Internet services have also been developed in Thailand, making it much easier to make reservations than before. I wonder if the day will come soon, I can't stop being excited.

I actually rode on the route I purchased.

In July 2019, I actually rode the overnight train between Bangkok and Deen Chai that I purchased using the above method.
Please take a look at the article below, which summarizes the situation at that time.

summary

It's easy to make online reservations for train travel in Thailand through our dedicated website. As a means of transportation for long-distance travel, please consider adding the train as one of your options.
