Infiltrate! Asoke's huge food court is crowded with locals!

"It's so hot! We've sneaked into Asoke's huge food court, which is known only to those in the know!"

Hello, this is Macchan.
Asoke is one of Bangkok's leading business districts, lined with skyscrapers.

Many Japanese companies have offices in Exchange Tower near the BTS station and Interchange 21. It is also a spot that attracts many people in terms of ``play'', with many restaurants crowded together, including the famous entertainment street ``Soi Cowboy''.

I heard that there is a huge food court in Asoke, the center of Bangkok, that few Japanese people know about and that is loved by the locals. I would like to go there right away.

Asoke giant food court location

Asoke's huge food court is located a 15-minute walk from BTS Asoke Station and a little over 10 minutes from MRT Sukhumvit Station, heading north on Sukhumvit Soi 21.
If you use MRT, you can also access it by going south from Phetchaburi Station. It is located next to a commercial building called "MID TOWN ASOK".
If you are going on foot, aim for "MID TOWN ASOK" from any station. Midtown Asok MID TOWN ASOK signboard is a landmark When you arrive at ``MID TOWN ASOK'', proceed along the adjacent road to the north. From BTS Asoke Station or MRT Sukhumvit Station, turn left after passing "MID TOWN ASOK".

There is a huge local food court that is only known to those in the know. "MID TOWN ASOK" Towards the back of the road on the north side To be honest, until I arrived, I was skeptical that there was a huge site in the middle of such an office district, but when I entered, I was surprised at the scale of the place.

The huge food court is divided into three main areas.

Huge food court entrance

If you go all the way down the road next to Midtown Asoke, you will see the entrance.

As far as you can see from the entrance, it appears to be a fairly large site. There's also a roof, so you don't have to worry about it even if it rains. The sky looked like it was going to rain at any moment, but there was no need to worry about getting wet while slurping up the kuit tiao.

In front of you when you enter is the miscellaneous goods, clothing, and food section.

First, near the entrance of the roofed building, there are stalls selling various household goods. Everything from clothes, shoes, and food to ornamental plants and hobbies. It looks like you can get a variety of things just like at the night market in Thailand.

There are two food court areas on the left and right at the back of the site.

As I walked a little further inside the premises, I saw it.
A blue cola table hanger that you often see at local food stalls in Thailand.

It looks quite spacious.
I counted the number of seats, and there are roughly 600 seats. I visited around 10:30, just before lunch.

There are still few people. Various food stalls are lined up surrounding the table area.

With so much to choose from, you'll have a hard time deciding what to eat!
For now, let's take a tour!

"All kinds of wankers! So delicious!"

"Meat! So delicious!"

"Seafood! So delicious!"

After looking around, I decided to order at various Okaz stalls.

``How much is it?''

Store ``If you choose one side dish, it's 30 baht, if you choose two, it's 40 baht.'' ``
Okay, let's have this!''
Store ``Hey, feel free to take the soup.'' So we went to the nameless stall. I chose catfish red curry. I asked for a little more rice. Soup comes free of charge.

“This is delicious!”

There is an impression that river fish such as catfish and carp have a smell, but that is not the case at all.

The crispy fried white meat goes well with the richly flavored curry paste, and you'll be able to eat it with as many bowls of rice as you like. I devoured it in just 5 minutes.

After consulting with my stomach, it seems like I can have another dish. Next, I ordered Khaonape from another stall.

45 baht. Khao Nape is duck stew rice.

The duck meat and rice simmered in a melting sweet and salty sauce is a perfect nickname. I eat this every time I come to Thailand.

I finished both dishes and my stomach was full.

Combined with the catfish curry mentioned earlier, it cost 75 baht (about 230 yen) and filled her stomach to the brim. Satisfied, satisfied. ``Where should I return the plate and cup?''
The store said, ``You can leave it on the table in the middle.''
Indeed, in the center was his table with no blue sheet on it for returns.
If you return your plates and cups after eating, they will clean them up for you. Thank you for the meal.

There are actually two food court areas on this site, and another space similar to the size I just introduced.

In other words, 600 x 2 can accommodate more than 1,000 people at once. This is what a rough illustration of the premises would look like.

Food court ① seems to have a slightly larger number of stalls.

If you have time, I think it would be interesting to take a look at both. As I was doing this, the time turned around 11:30 and the number of people started to increase here and there. It was a huge success, with about 80% of the seats occupied before 12:00. Since this area is an office district, there seem to be many office workers and office ladies with their employee ID cards hanging around. I've heard that many stores run out of products during this lunch time, and many stores close by mid-afternoon. Therefore, we recommend that you use this food court for

early lunch, rather than for a late lunch or dinner Many stalls seem to be open from around 6:00 to 7:00.

Take a break after dinner at a stylish cafe

Since I was full, I started craving something a little sweet. There are many cafes and tapioca milk tea shops on the premises, so you won't have any trouble taking a coffee break after your meal. I ordered an iced latte for 55 baht at a fashionable cafe.

Thai coffee is quite sweet, so if you order the less sweet ``Wan Nit Noi'' , you can enjoy a cup of coffee with just the right amount of sweetness.

Basic information about Asoke Giant Food Court

Please note that this is probably mainly for office workers, so it will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Also, although the facility itself is open until around 7pm, many of the food stalls are sold out after lunch, so please arrive early.

summary

"If you're going to come, come in the morning or have an early lunch!"

How did you like Asoke's huge food court?
His food court, which suddenly appears in the Asoke area, one of Bangkok's leading business districts, is a hidden gem that you should definitely visit. There are so many stalls that I think you'll find something new no matter how many times you come.
